Love the Earth? Celebrate it in style this week!

Earth Day is officially April 22, but Sacramento doesn't need to contain celebrations of our home planet to just one day! Here's a collection of some of the Earth lovin' events happening around town.

Thursday, April 21:

Earth Day Celebration, 9am-2pm,
Cesar Chavez Park & Sacramento City Hall

Earth dwellers of all ages are invited to come celebrate and learn about our majestic world, and the Sacramento community’s role in helping to make our area a green and even more environmentally friendly city.

Friday, April 22:

Peace. Love. Swap.: 1st Annual Swap-a-Palooza, 9:30am-2pm*Swapping begins at Noon,
Denio’s Farmers Market

If you like freecyle, you'll love this! Celebrate Earth Day, do your spring cleaning, and bring down all your gently used (clean!) items that you don't use and swap them out for items that you need.
ArtWorks with Every Day Stuff, 3:30pm-4:30pm, Franklin Community Library
Make an impact on the environment this Earth Day--transform normally-thrown-away items into works of art.
Ride for Earth, 7pm, Meets at Practical Cycle
What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to spend some quality time with Mother Nature and good people on bikes while partaking in Sacramento Recreation! The ride will traverse leisurely for about a mile along the Sacramento River to its confluence with the American River in Discovery Park and back to Practical Cycle. Afterward, enjoy Rainforest Alliance certified decaf from Chocolate Fish Coffee, followed by some easy post-ride stretches with Michelle from It's All Yoga.

Saturday, April 23:
Earth Day hands

Guided Nature Walk: Earth Day Every Day, 10:30am,
Effie Yeaw Nature Center

Mother nature's gifts are all around us. Learn how we can all make a difference. Guided Nature Walks are one of many fun Sacramento Outdoor Activities.

Sacramento Earth Day, 12:30pm-5:30pm, Southside Park
The Sacramento Earth Day Celebration will be filled with wonderful food, entertainment, interactive activities, and business, non-profit, cultural and government organizations with invaluable and practical information, goods, and services for saving money, living healthier, and protecting and celebrating the environment and the Sacramento region.
