The 17th annual Sacramento Museum Day is Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, and now is the time to plan your visit to some of the best Sacramento attractions. This year, nearly 25 area museums will welcome you, your family and friends all day long. Admission to most museums is FREE, with just a couple offering half-price admission.

In addition to free or reduced-cost admission, some museums will also have some special activities going on for all to enjoy. The Aerospace Museum will have an open cockpit day, where most of the aircraft, weather permitting, will be open so you can get a peek inside. The Heidrick Ag History Center in Woodland will have a special selection of “big monster tractors” on display, antiques, demonstrations and even a few food trucks to sate your appetite. The Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum will also offer a snack - in this case cake to celebrate the birthday of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The Sacramento History Museum will offer hands-on gold panning for kids. As always, plan ahead and go early, as many of the museum fill up to capacity quickly on Museum Day.

"Every year is unique and offers new discoveries for guests to explore on Sacramento Museum Day," said Sacramento Association of Museums Chair Kristina Swanson.
